Testosterone Therapy and Prostate Cancer.

There are often concerns that hormone replacement therapy can cause cancer.  Specifically, many are under the impression that testosterone can increase one’s risk for prostate cancer.

If testosterone truly caused significant prostate cancer growth, then we would expect to see observable evidence to verify this concern.  We would expect to see an increased rate in prostate cancer rates in men who receive testosterone replacement or those men who simply have high baseline levels of endogenous testosterone.  However, multiple reviews fail to show any such supporting evidence.
