High Estradiol Levels in Men.

In men, high levels of testosterone lead to higher estradiol levels because of an enzyme that makes this conversion.  Unfortunately, there are some schools of thought suggesting a need to prevent this conversion with aromatase inhibitors.  This study shows that higher estradiol levels are associated with lower risk of cardiovascular events in older men.  These are consistent with the hypothesis that endogenous estrogen has vasculoprotective influence in men.
