PCOS Improvement with a diet low in carbohydrates
We have addressed the link between Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndrome several times in the past. Ongoing research continues to link PCOS to insulin resistance and therefore making dietary changes in this arena by choosing foods with a lower glycemic index is paramount. Given that insulin resistance simply gets worse by flooding the body with more insulin, a diet high in carbohydrates worsens the metabolic balance. It is not uncommon for PCOS to be associated with obesity, however, most often those with PCOS can appear thin. . .until they are not. A diet with low glycemic index may help restore menstrual regularity, reduce inflammatory markers and improve insulin sensitivity in women with PCOS.

Making these dietary changes are challenging, but clearly necessary; starting with small changes can lead to amazing results.
