Normal or average is not the same as optimal. . .

Rita and I arrived in Iowa City this morning. . .my old stomping grounds as I went to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine many moons ago. We are not here for business by any means. My son turns 19 today and given that he opted to cheer on the Hawkeyes for his undergraduate education we are here to celebrate him. I know I'm biased but I find him brilliant; he has chosen to explore Biomedical Engineering given an inherent love for math and science. If you can't tell I'm a proud Papa.

Happy Birthday Caden De Leon!!!!

Along the lines of brilliance. . . I've been reading Peter Attia's new book "Outlive". It's absolutely amazing and many of covered insights are of similar mindset to how we see health today. And on that note, I will leave you with one of his quotes that hits home for us.

"Unfortunately, in today's unhealthy society, "normal" or "average" is not the same as "optimal". Jason & Rita...aka Dr. De Leon and Dr. Gillespie
