Cholesterol Improvement.
Although a focus of cholesterol improvement seems to be focused on LDL (bad cholesterol). There are medication options to help improve these values, namely statin medications. It goes without saying that these medications are designed to bring these levels down. However, statins are often associated with many side effects including joint and muscle pain and can lead to diabetes. What’s interesting is that this improved cholesterol profile does not seem to be the end-all when it comes to cardiovascular compromise; people on statins still have cardiac events. High triglyceride levels and low HDL good cholesterol) levels are seen with both metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. A new focus shows that the ratio TG/HDL is an additional marker to follow. The higher the ratio here. . . the more likely one would expect a bad cardiovascular outcome.
